Participation at Asia Pacific Rail 2025

Dr. Daya Shankar had the honor of speaking at Asia Pacific Rail 2025, one of the region’s most influential gatherings focused on rail innovation and infrastructure. As a strong advocate for integrating AI, medical imaging, and sustainable technologies to create social impact, Dr. Shankar contributed to critical discussions that bridged the gap between engineering innovation and public welfare. Drawing from his experience in developing solar-powered ambulances, smart medical devices, and leading academic innovation at Woxsen University, he emphasized the importance of aligning technology with societal needs. In his address, Dr. Shankar highlighted rail as a vital component of this transformation, advocating for its role in enabling sustainable, accessible, and inclusive infrastructure. His participation enriched the dialogue with cross-disciplinary insights and reaffirmed his commitment to harnessing technology for the public good.

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to conduct two insightful training sessions on 'Technology use in learning assessment in higher education' as part of the 2-week FDP on Advanced Pedagogy organized by NITTTR Kolkata. 🌟

It was a pleasure to share my expertise and discuss how technology can be leveraged to enhance learning assessment in higher education. The sessions took place on 29th and 30th May, within the duration of the FDP held from 22nd May to 2nd June 2023. 🎓

Had the incredible opportunity to meet with Prasanth Nair IAS, the Chief Compassionate Officer, whose vision for creating meaningful change is truly inspiring.

This partnership opens doors for our students to transform ideas into real-world impact projects, shape policy discussions, and connect with senior policymakers, business leaders, and compassionate changemakers across India.

What excites me most is how this collaboration will help develop our future leaders with that perfect blend of practical wisdom and empathy-driven action, all while being grounded in hashtag#Dharma.

As the letter so beautifully puts it - "Your highway to a compassionate world begins right here, right now. And you are in the driver's seat."

Empowering Rural Communities Through Collaboration

I was honored to represent Woxsen University's School of Sciences yesterday at a meaningful event—the signing of an MoU between Woxsen University and Hare Krishna Movement - India Aikya Vidya educational initiative.

In my address, I spoke about the immense potential of collaborations like these to uplift rural communities. Having worked extensively in the development sector, I have insight into the multi-layered challenges plaguing remote villages: lack of education, healthcare, skills, and awareness.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Research and Industrial Conclave, IIT Guwahati-2024 team, particularly Subhash Pratap Singh and Nikhil Kumar Mishra for inviting me to this prestigious event. As an alumnus, I fondly recall my involvement in organizing this event back in 2015 alongside my colleagues. Returning after nine years evokes a profound sense of nostalgia and pride in the event's continued success and growth.

It was an honor to serve as a panelist, where I had the opportunity to discuss the critical topic of collaboration between academia and industry. My focus was on securing funding support for emerging startups within academic institutions. Additionally, I explored various aspects of incubation and startup development alongside my distinguished co-panelists.

This experience not only allowed me to contribute to the current dialogue on innovation and entrepreneurship but also to witness firsthand the remarkable progress made since my student days. The event continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering connections between research, industry, and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Participating in the RIC 2024 has reinforced my belief in the importance of such initiatives in nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders in technology and research.

Proud to be part of this exceptional team at Woxsen University School of Sciences and Technology! From breakthrough research in AI medical imaging and renewable energy to our successful BioMACS'25 conference with Swinburne University, we're constantly pushing boundaries. Our faculty's expertise spans sustainable innovation, nuclear thermal hydraulics, and healthcare diagnostics, resulting in multiple patents including our solar e-rickshaw and vaccine refrigerator projects. Through initiatives like Trade Tower Incubation Hub and Care & Cure Clinic, we're not just teaching science—we're applying it to solve real-world challenges. What makes us special isn't just our academic credentials, but our commitment to transforming research into impact that benefits communities.

As the Dean of the School of Sciences at Woxsen University, I shared our experiences and insights on "Convergent technologies – leveraging the opportunity in precincts" alongside distinguished panellists.

Key insights I shared from our work at Woxsen University:

🔄 On Convergent Technologies: Highlighted our groundbreaking work in AI algorithms that simultaneously analyze radiological images, pathology slides, and clinical data. Our deep learning systems now detect patterns across multiple imaging modalities, demonstrating how convergence creates entirely new capabilities in healthcare.

🚀 Breakthrough Opportunities: Outlined three transformative convergences:

-Integration of computer vision AI with radiology

-Real-time AI-assisted surgical guidance systems

-Quantum computing in medical image processing - reducing complex 3D imaging analysis from hours to seconds

🌐 Building Innovation Ecosystems: Shared our three-pillar approach:

-Breaking down disciplinary silos through joint labs

-Establishing clear research-to-clinical implementation pathways

-Fostering international collaboration

💡 Success Through Partnership: Presented our successful collaboration with a hospital network on AI-driven lung abnormality detection - a perfect example of a sustainable partnership where each stakeholder gained unique value.

I was honored to be part of the 23rd edition of WSDS, held by TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute in New Delhi. This year's focus on "𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲" was both inspiring and timely.

It was a privilege to hear the opening address by the 𝐇𝐨𝐧'𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. His insights set the stage for powerful discussions throughout the summit.

Speaker at the 7th Edition of Education Leaders Conclave & Awards – July 2024

I had the honor of being a speaker at the prestigious 7th Edition of the Education Leaders Conclave & Awards (ELCA), held on 18th & 19th July 2024 at Novotel Hitex HICC, Hyderabad. This influential event, supported by the Government of Telangana, brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the education sector to discuss and shape the future of learning.

With the central theme of "Futuristic Education: Embracing Technology and Empowering Students," the conclave focused on emerging trends such as EdTech innovations, personalized learning pathways, AI-driven pedagogy, and digital transformation in education.

Representing Woxsen University, I had the opportunity to share insights on the role of experiential learning, technology integration, and the need to nurture student agency in a rapidly evolving academic landscape. The sessions were thought-provoking and fostered a collaborative atmosphere aimed at real-world educational reform.

It was truly inspiring to be part of a platform curated by ObserveNow, where dynamic conversations translated into actionable strategies for educational institutions nationwide.

This experience not only allowed me to contribute to meaningful dialogue but also reaffirmed my commitment to reimagining education for the next generation of learners.
